Peanut Spread: Benefits for Diabetes!

Diabetes and peanut butter - sounds strange right? Well fear not diabetics, it’s more healthy than you think! Peanuts are, in fact, a great source of magnesium which is a very important source to prevent the effects of diabetes.

Natural peanut butter also has a low glycemic index (GI) which means they have a lower effect of blood sugar levels. This is caused by peanuts being low in carbs and high in protein, fat, and fibers which makes it great for us in general!

A person with diabetes can very well satisfy their sweet tooth with peanuts or peanut butter as it is 50% less fattening than candy. Although they are not sweet, they tend to satisfy the same tastebuds as candy! How amazing is that?

Peanut butter is a great snack replacement for diabetics but we all need to bear in mind the brand of peanut butter we are choosing.

Omega-6 comprises around 30 percent of the fatty acids in peanut butter. While omega-3 fatty acids tend to reduce inflammation, some omega-6 fatty acids, such as linoleic acid, can aggravate inflammation. As diabetes is an inflammatory condition, it is possible that the omega-6 fatty acids in peanut butter could make some aspects of diabetes worse, so choose your brand wisely.

Most commercial brands will have added sugars to the butters. Provee Peanut Spread, however, is not a peanut butter, it's a spread that has no added sugar, is totally natural, and has an addition of about 30% more protein than any regular peanut butter.

So choose well and eat well!
